Jack’s Oyster House Will Stay Open Through Summer 2027, Then Close for Renovation

Albany, NY — Jack’s Oyster House, now owned and operated by NeoVista Hospitality Group, Inc., a subsidiary of NeoVista Equities, LLC, has reopened temporarily after a three-plus-year closure. Currently open for lunch and full-service dinner, Jack’s revival is just beginning.

The iconic Jack’s Oyster House has been serving the Albany, New York Community since 1913. Over the years, Jack’s has become a main attraction for visitors and locals alike with its historical charm and exquisite menu offerings. Holding the distinction of being one of the oldest continuously operating restaurants in the state of New York, Jack’s received the honor of having the stretch of State Street from Broadway to Pearl Street nicknamed Jack’s Oyster House Way for the restaurant's centennial in 2013.

Since its inception, Jack’s has been known for its world-famous oysters, fresh lobster, and signature clam chowder. A plethora of prominent figures have dined at Jack's, ranging from John F. Kennedy Jr., Mickey Mantle, and mobster Jack “Legs” Diamond. Additionally, almost every New York state governor has dined at Jack’s at least once during their term.

For more than a century, Jack’s has been owned by the same family. Despite now being under NeoVista’s ownership, the goal is to honor and preserve Jack’s tradition and integrity while elevating the dining experience.

The current 18-item dinner menu features a mix of seafood, including 12 East Coast oysters on the half shell and Louisiana fried oyster for starters, and pan-roasted halibut for an entrée. Additional entrées include Moroccan Dusted Loin of Lamb, a 24 oz Grilled Cowboy Steak, Duck Breast with a port wine sauce, and more.

The current 13-item lunch menu showcases a diverse selection of dishes, from Pei Blue Mussels and a classic Lobster Roll to a Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail, Charred Bavette Steak Frites, Chef Brady’s signature “Brady Burger”, and more.

For guests seeking convenient grab-and-go lunch options, Jack’s Deli will offer online ordering for pickup and delivery exclusively from 42 State Street, Monday through Saturday, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The Jack’s Deli menu is tailored for grab-and-go service with freshly made pastrami and corned beef sandwiches, alongside Jack’s New England Clam Chowder soup, and more. Additionally, featured on the lunch menu is a sneak peek at another NeoVista food concept called Bian Dang by Jack’s, which includes grab-and-go box lunches like the Chicken Leg Bian Dang—filled with fried chicken leg served over rice with braised meat sauce, pickled mustard greens, stir-fried vegetables, house pickles, and a soft egg.

Looking ahead, NeoVista’s Jack’s Deli concept is currently in development for a planned 2026 opening at 41 State Street. Jack’s Deli isn’t here to replace Jack’s, it’s here to help revive the Jack’s brand and carry its legacy forward into the future.

Jack’s Oyster House will remain open Monday through Saturday through summer of 2027. It will then close again for an extensive gut renovation. This renovation is expected to include the installation of an elevator in the four-story, 13,000-square-foot building at 44 State Street, along with the second and third floors of Jack’s transforming into banquet spaces and other event venues.

NeoVista’s approach is rooted in respect for history, for the community, and for the economic vitality of Albany’s core. We want Jack’s Oyster House to return not only as a restaurant, but as a symbol of a thriving city.

We’ve heard from longtime patrons who remember celebrating anniversaries, graduations, and milestones at Jack’s. Their stories remind us that this isn’t just a building; it’s a living part of Albany’s identity.
